Vermicomposting - Winterizing The Spider Plants

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

The spider plants, which have thrived on the balcony all summer, come indoors to a sunny window spot and while away the winter.

Here we are, seven spider plants suspended from plant poles. lovely!

But underneath, sprinklings of worm castings have begun to appear on our new beige carpet. I anticipate too, drops of water from time to time. Oh dear! What to do?

Race across to the Dollar Store and grab an 8-pack of shower caps for a buck. Too bad they come in garish colors ...

And the spider plants are safely diapered for the winter.

It’s true that I could use larger caps for the larger tubs, but soon, we hope, the spider shoots and leaves will hide the plastic caps.

Re-usable? You bet!
